The Matcha Whisk You Can Actually Wash: Fugetsu Resin Chasen

Jul 17, 2026 FUKUOKA_OTAKU
matcha, chasen, resin chasen, matcha whisk, Fugetsu, Japanese tea, made in Japan

If you make matcha every day, you already know the problem with
bamboo chasen: moisture gets trapped at the base, mould develops,
and the delicate tines eventually break. A traditional bamboo whisk
is beautiful — but it's not built for daily use.

The Fugetsu resin chasen is.

What Is a Resin Chasen?

A resin chasen is a matcha whisk made from food-safe synthetic
material instead of bamboo. The Fugetsu version is crafted in Japan
from polypropylene — the same material used in baby bottles — and
designed to replicate the look, feel, and whisking performance of a
traditional chasen.

The key difference: you can actually wash it.

Why the Fugetsu Resin Chasen Is Different

Most resin whisks on the market can be rinsed — but not truly cleaned.
The Fugetsu chasen disassembles completely, separating the tines from
the handle so you can clean all the way to the base. No trapped
matcha residue. No mould.

Key features:
・Fully disassembles for deep cleaning
・Dishwasher safe (place in holder before washing)
・Mould-resistant — no more worrying about damp storage
・Comes with a curl fixer (kuse-naoshi) to maintain tine shape
・Heat resistant up to 100°C
・Food-safe polypropylene — safe for matcha lattes, sauces, dressings
・Made in Japan by Fugetsu
・Available in 3 colors: Ivory, Brown, Green

Resin Chasen vs. Bamboo Chasen: Which Should You Choose?

Both produce smooth, frothy matcha. The difference comes down to
your priorities.

Choose bamboo if:
・You practice tea ceremony
・You value the traditional ritual and aesthetic
・You use it occasionally and dry it carefully after each use

Choose the Fugetsu resin chasen if:
・You make matcha every day
・You use milk, sweeteners, or other ingredients
・You want a whisk that's easy to clean and built to last
・You travel and need something durable

Many matcha lovers own both — bamboo for the ritual, resin for
everything else.

Made in Japan. Trusted by Tea Lovers Worldwide.

Fugetsu has been making tea utensils in Nara — Japan's historic
center of chasen production — for generations. Their resin chasen
brings the same attention to detail to a modern material, making
it one of the most trusted resin matcha whisks available.
